About Denali Backcountry Lodge

The Denali Backcountry Lodge is situated at the terminus of the Denali Park Road, a 92-mile-long road that is restricted to motorized traffic and only accessible by shuttle bus or on foot from the park's headquarters in Wonder Lake during peak season. The lodge itself lies within the boundaries of Denali National Park and Preserve, one of the most remote and rugged national parks in the United States. Denali National Park, formerly known as Mount McKinley National Park, was established in 1917 to protect the mountain's unique natural features and preserve its wilderness character. In 1980, it was redesignated a national park and preserve, expanding its boundaries to include more than six million acres of boreal forest, tundra, and alpine terrain. The Denali Backcountry Lodge offers guests an immersive wilderness experience, providing accommodations in the midst of this vast and untouched landscape. With its remote location, the lodge provides a truly backcountry experience, allowing visitors to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature.
